The way the Earth shook, when from my life they took
my treasures
Slowly grows the crack, that forces me to look back
for treasures
As it slips through the floor, the valley moves to the door
to treasures
As I follow close behind, the causes run through my mind
of treasures
Was it change?
Was it fear?
Will that crack disappear?
A great tear in the ground
Splits open without sound...forever.
No one else can see, this crack that breaks from me
with treasures
Faster the line moves on, even as I write this song
for treasures

In the shiny surface I see myself flattered
Agony and fear rustling near the point that it shattered

Here the tattered ribbon that is wound around my heart
As I pull on its threads I feel myself falling apart

My ever weaker voice drowned out by the silence
Slowly sounds louder inside broken by the violence

The fading image, my face is wasting away
And I claw at it until the shiny surface turns gray

My timely moment now approaches so near
I forget but remember that I am not here

*This poem was submitted to the David Bowie fanclub back in 1999 when a contest was being run for lyrics to a new song at the time. I did not win the contest, but occassionally when I hear that particular song (name not given per no permission) I sing my lyrics instead of those of a fan that were used.

Into darkness, I'm falling down
You see me screaming, but can't hear a sound
A helpless victim, who feels so unreal
A lonesome prisoner, uncaring, can't feel
I wish you'd try to save me from this
Unspeakable nightmare...
I don't think I can go on...
I'm wasting away and falling down...

Hidden from sunlight, I'm losing my own
I'm trapped inside, so bitter, alone
Climbing harder, and higher, and done
Trying to call out to someone, something unknown
Unthinkable failure, uncaring, unsure
I know it's impossible...
Starving for a firm hold...
How long will this torment last?..

But in the future, years from now
We'll be together, united somehow
A perfect union, we won't pass away
How I think only of that great day
With this undying love I am free
We can love again...You and Me

See how the rain trickles down, and the box car wheels turn around
The hooves of horses hits the ground, How could you forget that sound?

Chirping birds and winds do come, they flow into your face-you run!
The cold hits your hands, you're numb...when the truth hits you, life is done

Spin around come along friend, we'll count the days until the end
Of the pointless time, then you send-send me home as we come around the bend

Childhood is gone, we are old-The same story is always told
Childhood dies, then you're free-For God's sake, what happened to me?

Childhood's death in a storm-that pain and fear is the norm
Childhood goes, then we die-We're no different, you and I...

See how the rain trickles down.
And the box car wheels turn around.

As I close my eyes and rest for awhile,
a new day begins almost empty
I tell myself that the past is over,
and memory can never change

Still...I can hear your name

Maybe I could open the front door wide,
take a walk around my garden
I force myself to rise and look outside,
but all I can see is the rain

Still...I can hear your name

I pretend that you are standing out there,
all I have to do is let you in
We can talk about the ol' days and play,
until I realize that all I feel is false

Still...I can hear your name
Still...I can hear your name
Through these nightmares in my brain!
Still...I can hear your...
name...name...name

Torture me. Torture you.
Punish me. Punish you.
Rescue me. Rescue you.
Repeat me. Repeat you.
Come hold me. I will come hold you!

Love me (you)...See me (you)...Touch me (you)...Hear me (you)
Was it me or was it you?

Dance with me. Dance with you.
Sing for me. Sing for you.
Listen to me. Listen to you.
Walk with me. Walk with you.
Speak to me. I will speak to you!

Love me (you)...See me (you)...Touch me (you)...Hear me (you)
Was it me or was it you?

Where...
Are...
You?

Down the tree of my soul, there are seven kingdoms to make me whole.
Spheres of power deep inside, through them all I with power confide.

First, as I climb upward, it is Muladhavva that my soul climbs toward.
The brightest red I see, I know that I am what I am, and all of me.

Next I travel in desire, to the kingdom of Svadhisthana to reach its spire.
All of me is burning in a rage, I hunger for more, my boundless soul will not age.

When I am finaly saited, to the world of Manipura I feel drawn and baited.
The power in me begins to swell, I transform into a fire and through the sky I sail.

In triumph I begin to love, and all the beauty reveals itself through Anahata above.
My feelings spread to everyone, I feel pride and joy in life, the earth, and sun.

Once I stop at the peak, from the heights of Visuddha my soul begins to speak.
My ideas, my creations, from the recesses of imagination, I show all of my elation.

Suddenly within I do call, a higher vision appears from teh kingdom of Ajna.
I see more than below me, I see everything that has come, will come, and always shall be.

Finally, from within I soar, of everything and anything I join the kingdom of Sahasrara.
White light shines into my soul, the entire existence that I am, now in truth, I am whole.

Long ago and just a dream away, a black nothing became a gray.
And in the morning of that day, there was a fire that arose to warm.

But in that fire was a soul, it grew wings to make it whole.
On those wings feathers did grow, and with their flutter there rose a storm.

In that storm winds did come, shifting the darkness into the sun.
In that rain there first was one, then several drops to make a sea.

As the waters spread to fill, the darkness tossed and spilled.
Turning over itself in thrill, arising as a serpent born.

To the Wyrm did say the bird,
"With me you make a seed by word
and guard this seed undisturbed
and build a nest for it inside thy shadow."

To the Phoenix said the snake,
"With your fire and my water we make
an egg from which inside this lake
sprouts a Tree for us to keep as One."

And so from the egg there came a tree,
The first of its kind in history.

A column of Earth to bind Sky and Sea.
The World Tree doth bare its fruit.

This interpretation of the world tree is taken from the Slavic shamans story of how the firebird spirit Simargyl (Belobog/Yang) and the Cosmic Serpent (Chernobog/Yin) grew the tree of the World from the womb of Mother Mokosh. For more on slavic mysticism, visit:

Bright Star within and without
Burning away all sin and doubt
The Master's soul touched and atuned
His inner lotus radiant and bloomed

A journey down from sacred mount
Full of the Great Light as a fount
The First Miracle did come to toe
Healing Hands did well make so

Great feast was asked from kind
Spare no food, he fast for a time
The Second Miracle did now come
Empty belly and heart undone

Ailing girl was brought to Master
Her great toothache felt like disaster
Healing Hands took away the pain
Her happiness came back again.

Many came to be healed and well
Caught by Master's healing spell
Though some did not stay at peace
Their greed and pride would not ease.

So from wise words Master proclaimed
These five lines for the Art contained:

Just For Today, Do Not Worry
Just For Today, Do Not Anger
Honor Your Parents, Teachers, and Elders
Earn Your Living Honestly
Show Gratitude For Every Living Thing.

So now each student must know within.
To burn away all doubt and sin.
Heal the world and all others too.
But always heal the Star In You.
