| It is not necessary for me to define
what Wicca is. There are a multitude of sources (and some contradictory) as to what
the path of Wicca consists of as well as its origins. What I will do, however, is inform
the visitor of what my Wiccan background entails. For me, within the practice of my "Art", I utilize from my
Alexandrian, Celtic, and Faerie Wicca training the concepts of the Circle, the calling of
the quarters, communion with the Celtic and Western European Gods & Goddesses (and of
course the collective Lord and Lady), the Sabbats and Esbats, evoking/invoking the four
elemental forces, communicating and requesting the presence of the elemental spirits, as
well as numerous rituals and spell practices that have been tested over time and found to
be effective. I am also technically able to teach others in this path and do so very
carefully.
I also use the same tools and elemental
correspondence charts, in addition to the classic sympathetic magical associations of
gems, herbs, trees, and the like. Even though I am young, it could be plausible that
I could have attained "Elder" or "Third Degree" status, given that
before Graed Ryven (my local Alexandrian group) disbanded, I was ready to hive. In
time I may return to the coven atmosphere, but for now, I am still comfortable as a
solitary and have been since I was 17 years old. (It is a long story about the coven, but
yes I did start quite young).
The reason I no longer consider myself completely
Wiccan, is because my vast experience and knowledge of that path, I have in the past
several years become so eclectic in my own pursuits that the aesthetics of the Wiccan
tradition and its common forms color what I practice, but do not exclusively comprise it.
I still do my best to adhere to prose of my dedication and initiations.
Below is the Wiccan Rede as it was taught to me. (I
have seen variations upon this piece).
Bide the Wiccan's Law we must, In perfect love and
perfect trust...
Live and let live. Fairly take and fairly give.
Cast the circle thrice about, to keep the evil
spirits out.
To bind the spell every time, let the spells be
spake in rhyme.
Soft of eye and light of touch, speak but little,
and listen much.
Deosil go by waxing moon, chanting out the Witch's
Rune.
Widdershins to by waning moon, canting out the
baneful rune.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss they hand to her,
Times Two!
When the moon rides at her peak, then your heart's
desire seek.
Heed the North
Winds mighty gale, lock the door and drop the
sail.
When the wind comes from the South, love will
kiss thee on the mouth.
When the wind blows from the West, departed
souls will have no rest.
When the wind blows from the East, expect the
new and set the feast.
Nine woods in the cauldron go, burn them fast and
burn them slow.
Elder be the Lady's Tree, burn it not or cursed
you'll be.
When the Wheel begins to turn, let the Beltane fires
burn.
When the Wheel has turned to Yule, light the log,
The Horned One rules.
Heed ye flower, bush, and tree. By the Lady, Blessed
Be!
Where the rippling waters go, Cast a stone and truth
you'll know.
When ye have a true need, Harken not to other's
greed.
With a fool no season spend, lest ye be counted as
his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part, Bright the Cheeks and
Warm the Heart!
Mind the Three-fold Law you should, Three times bad
and Three times good!
When misfortune is a'now, wear the blue star on thy
brow.
True in love ever be, less thy lover's false to
thee.
